Where do my extracted files go?

Nitiy asks you to pick a folder the first time, because macOS only lets apps write where you allow them.

Why was my archive blocked?

Secure extraction refuses archives that try to write outside the destination folder, contain unsafe links, or don't fit in free disk space. Archives that are unusually large or highly compressed ask for your confirmation instead.

I forgot an archive’s password.

Encrypted archives cannot be recovered without the password. If you saved it, look in the macOS Keychain.

Can Nitiy create RAR files?

No. Nitiy can open RAR files, but creating them is not supported (the format is proprietary). TAR.ZST can be both created and opened.

Can macOS open a password-protected ZIP made by Nitiy?

Nitiy encrypts ZIP files with AES-256. The built-in macOS Archive Utility cannot open AES-encrypted ZIPs; Nitiy, 7-Zip and most other tools can. ZIP passwords can only contain ASCII characters (no accents or ñ) — use 7Z or NIT if you need those.
